Vodochody / Dubai, November 17, 2025 The L-39 Skyfox will be showcased at this year’s Dubai Airshow in its latest armed configuration. For the Skyfox, this will be its first-ever appearance in Dubai – and simultaneously the global unveiling of a completely new, striking camouflage that captures attention at first sight.

Aero Vodochody is bringing several innovations to this year’s Dubai Airshow. The most significant is the world premiere of the L-39 Skyfox directly at the Dubai airport. “There is no better place to show this great aircraft and introduce our latest advancements to customers than the world’s largest aviation exhibition,” says Viktor Sotona, President and Chairman of the Board of AERO Vodochody AEROSPACE. “Throughout the week, we will be able to present the Skyfox to customers from all over the world – the entire aviation industry is focused on this event,” Sotona adds.

In Dubai, the Skyfox will appear in an armed configuration that enables the integration of Western weaponry fully compliant with NATO standards. This makes the L-39 Skyfox an even more flexible solution for modern air forces, allowing them to take advantage not only of its training capabilities but also its tactical and combat features. On static display, the aircraft will be equipped with a weapons system including two 12.7 mm gun pods, two LAU-32 rocket launchers, and a mock reconnaissance pod.

A major highlight is the completely new camouflage, which represents a key element of the Skyfox brand’s visual identity. The design is based on the aircraft’s characteristic triangular motif and features a dynamic combination of colors reflecting the aircraft’s performance, energy, and confidence. Each side of the aircraft features a different camouflage variant, ensuring a unique appearance from every angle. The visual concept was created by renowned Czech artist Michal Cimala, whose work blends art, technology, and the aesthetics of modern aviation.
    C604af08ad19
“From the very beginning, the Skyfox has symbolized a balance between tradition and innovation. Now we are entering a new era — one in which we are not afraid to stand out, to show courage, and to give design and technology equal importance. With its bold new camouflage, the Skyfox proves that an aircraft can have a personality that inspires and captures attention — both in the air and on the ground,” says Viktor Sotona.

The new camouflage was created specifically for the Dubai Airshow. “Designing the Skyfox camouflage was truly a dream come true. It connects my childhood admiration for aircraft, my passion for music, and my love of abstract art,” says designer Michal Cimala. “The foundation is a structure of triangles — the iconic Skyfox motif, which I transformed into a dynamic new form. Each side of the aircraft looks different, the colors react to light, and they change with movement. The result is a design full of energy, rhythm, and boldness,” Cimala explains.

With its bold design, modern capabilities, and a clear vision for global markets, the L-39 Skyfox enters a new chapter at Dubai Airshow 2025.

The L-39 Skyfox is a modern multipurpose aircraft capable of covering a wide range of missions, from pilot training to tactical and reconnaissance operations. It represents the most efficient aircraft in its class, available in both Western and Eastern configurations and certified under EU and NATO regulations. This versatile technological platform integrates modern simulation technologies and ground training systems. The Czech-made L-39 Skyfox offers an innovative combination of modern avionics, a powerful jet engine, and excellent flight characteristics, making it a suitable choice for all phases of 4th and 5th generation fighter pilot training, as well as reconnaissance and tactical missions such as cooperation with various ground forces.

  • KADENA AIR BASE, Japan (AFNS) --

F-15E Strike Eagles assigned to the 336th Expeditionary Fighter Squadron have rotated out of Kadena Air Base, Japan, concluding a six-month deployment that included a groundbreaking three-month forward operation to U.S. Navy Support Facility Diego Garcia.

While stationed at Kadena AB, the 336th EFS deployed a detachment to the remote Indian Ocean outpost to establish and operate Detachment 336—marking the first sustained U.S. fighter presence on the island and a major milestone in the execution of Agile Combat Employment in the Indo-Pacific.

In response to an immediate request for forces from the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command, 160 Airmen from Kadena AB, Yokota AB and Andersen Air Force Base deployed on May 13 to establish Detachment 336. Their mission is to project and sustain forward combat airpower from one of the most remote and strategically significant locations on Earth.

“This wasn’t just a TDY,” said Capt. Jimmy Boulton, 336th EFS F-15E pilot, “This was an operational ACE fighter detachment tailor-made for a rapidly developing, real-world mission. And we weren’t just flying jets; we were building a joint team locked in on our purpose."

Over the course of the deployment, Detachment 336 achieved 24/7 alert operations, installed a mobile aircraft arresting system, and executed daily sorties, maintaining high mission-capable rates despite supply chains stretching halfway around the world.

“Our team had to develop innovative solutions to meet maintenance requirements in a location without standard fighter infrastructure,” said Master Sgt. Jeremy McCoy, Det 336 maintainer, “So, we adapted quickly to keep jets and Airmen ready and in the fight.”

In addition to flight operations, Detachment 336 assumed tactical command of joint defense forces, working alongside U.S. Navy Seventh Fleet, Marine Forces Pacific, and the 609th and 613th Air Operations Centers. Together, they executed air defense drills, base security scenarios and alert responses, establishing a fully integrated, layered defensive posture.

“We collaborated in real time with our Navy and Marine partners to develop joint solutions,” said Capt. Brianna Kretkowski, 336th EFS intelligence. “Each mission strengthened our battle rhythm and sharpened our readiness as a unified force."

Life on the island also demanded rapid, ground-up innovation. Alongside Anderson Air Force Base’s 36th Mission Support Group, Detachment 1, Airmen built and upgraded their tent city, nicknamed “Thundercove,” transforming it into a resilient base of operations.

From power distribution and sanitation to morale spaces and maintenance and operational headquarters, every improvement was built on-site, enhancing sustainability and enabling high operational tempo.

“Every workaround and upgrade was about building momentum,” said Tech. Sgt. Cid Bartolome, Det 336 civil engineer. “It was about making the location viable not just for this mission, but for future ones as well.”

By the end of July, Detachment 336 had exceeded all mission objectives, demonstrating that a forward-deployed fighter force can operate, thrive and command from non-traditional bases, under exceptionally challenging logistical conditions.

“Our work is already shaping tactics, techniques and procedures across the theater,” Capt. Boulton said.

As the final Strike Eagles returned to their shelters at Kadena AB, the scope of the accomplishment came into full view. This was more than a deployment, it was a blueprint for flexible, air power-centric combat operations in the Indo-Pacific.

“In practice, operational ACE required Detachment 336 to define new organizations, invent new processes, and—at the individual Airman and team level—aggressively move towards any and every risk to force or mission,” said Lt. Col. Mitchell Fossum, 336th EFS commander. “Our stewardship of the joint defense of Diego Garcia may soon be catalogued as merely another proof of the United States’ broad capability to rapidly deploy and reinforce deterrence with effective military power. To the Airmen of Detachment 336, however, this mission and the defense of this exceptional, strategic island was a high calling and a privilege.

PRAGUE, Czech Republic, Nov. 18, 2025 — In a significant step forward in Europe’s fight against wildfires, PZL Mielec, a Lockheed Martin company (NYSE: LMT), announced a groundbreaking contract with Česká Letecká Servisní (CLS) and the Czech Republic Ministry of Interior for two new Sikorsky S-70 FIREHAWK® helicopters, marking the first international fleet of its kind.

FIREHAWK helicopters play a key role in responding to the most challenging wildfires and emergencies across the United States, and this expansion onto the European continent comes at a critical time when wildfires have become an increasingly pressing local concern. The 2025 wildfire season in Europe has been the worst on record, with over 1 million hectares burned, highlighting the urgent need for effective and reliable aerial firefighting solutions.

Supported by the European Commission's RescEU program, these aircraft will be based in the Czech Republic and available to enhance aerial firefighting and emergency response missions throughout Europe. Under the agreement, the Czech Republic Ministry of Interior has the option to acquire a third FIREHAWK helicopter at a future date.

“As wildfires increasingly threaten communities across Europe, we are proud that PZL Mielec can provide such advanced helicopters to keep residents, resources, and infrastructure safe for decades to come,” said Janusz Zakręcki, president and general director of PZL Mielec. “This helicopter, produced in Poland, is a clear example of how our technology supports critical wildfire and emergency response efforts, and we look forward to continuously expanding the fleet’s reach into new countries around the globe.”

FIREHAWKs begin as Black Hawk® helicopters made in Europe by PZL Mielec in Poland. Each Black Hawk manufactured at its cutting-edge production facility is the result of hundreds of engineers, technicians, and specialists who ensure the aircraft’s safety and reliability. The company is one of Poland’s biggest defense exporters and underpins a robust European supply chain, employing 1,700 workers and indirectly sustaining about 5,000 jobs across the European Union with its network of 1,200 local suppliers.

“Welcoming the FIREHAWK to Europe represents a major leap forward in the continent’s wildfire and emergency response,” said Dr. Dennis Goege, Lockheed Martin vice president and chief executive for Europe. “By combining the FIREHAWK’s proven capabilities with the expertise of European emergency responders, we can more efficiently and effectively manage the growing threat of wildfires.”

"We are proud to partner with PZL Mielec and United Rotorcraft to bring this revolutionary aerial firefighting capability to Europe for the first time,” said Monika Kowalczykova, chief executive officer of Česká Letecká Servisní. “The FIREHAWK's unparalleled capabilities and abilities to operate in challenging conditions will provide European communities with a vital tool in the fight against devastating wildfires.”

Black Hawk helicopters are modified into FIREHAWK helicopters for aerial firefighting and disaster relief exclusively by U.S.-based United Rotorcraft. The Colorado-based company has now delivered 28 FIREHAWK helicopters to U.S. agencies, with an additional 5 more currently in production. In order to support this first delivery in Europe, United Rotorcraft will be partnering with CLS to outfit these helicopters locally.

“We couldn’t be more thrilled to see the FIREHAWK make its debut in Europe. We look forward to working with CLS on this first build outside of Colorado,” said Larry Alexandre, president of United Rotorcraft.

With its 1,000-gallon (3,785 liter) water tank, retractable snorkel, twin turbine engine, and night vision capability, the FIREHAWK is designed to stop fires in their tracks before they have the chance to grow. U.S. public safety agencies routinely rely on FIREHAWKs night and day through dangerous and deteriorating conditions that force other aircraft to remain grounded.

Currently, 28 FIREHAWK aircraft support the Los Angeles County Fire Department, California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE), Ventura County Fire Department, Santa Barbara Fire Department, Orange County Fire Authority, and the State of Colorado Division of Fire Protection and Control.

Lockheed Martin company Sikorsky and CAL FIRE recently announced a new initiative to expand the research, innovation, and operational capabilities of firefighting aviation resources, including the exploration of an autonomous FIREHAWK helicopter.

Vodochody, November 19, 2025 This week, three more L-39 Skyfox aircraft departed from Vodochody Airport to their customer in Hungary. The first two aircraft set off on Tuesday, and the third Skyfox flew to the Hungarian military base in Kecskemét this morning. This brings the total number of new Skyfox aircraft delivered to Hungary to eight.

Yesterday and today were very busy at Vodochody Airport. First, the majestic Embraer C-390 aircraft landed here with representatives of the Hungarian army, and in the afternoon, two L-39 Skyfox aircraft took off for Hungary. The last of the Skyfoxes took off for its new home base this morning.

For the Hungarian Embraer C-390, this was a symbolic return to the place where some of its important parts are manufactured, as Aero Vodochody has been successfully involved in the production of structural assemblies for this military multi-purpose aircraft for several years. Specifically, Aero manufactures fixed wing leading edges, doors, cargo ramps, and the rear fuselage.

The actual handover of the Skyfox aircraft to the Hungarian Air Force is preceded by several important steps that must meet the necessary requirements for aircraft operation. Next week, the aircraft will be accepted directly by the customer at the air base in Kecskemét, Hungary.

The actual process of handing over the Skyfox aircraft to the Hungarian Air Force is preceded by several important steps that must meet the necessary requirements for operating the aircraft. Next week, the aircraft will be handed over to the customer at the Kecskemét Air Base in Hungary.

The first three L-39 Skyfox aircraft were delivered to the Hungarian Air Force at the end of May this year, and another two aircraft took off from Vodochody Airport in September. With today’s delivery, eight aircraft have already arrived in Hungary, with the remaining four to be delivered in 2028. Aero Vodochody signed a contract with the Hungarian Defense Forces Command in May 2022. The contract covers the delivery of a total of 12 L-39 Skyfox aircraft, eight of which are in training configuration and four in reconnaissance configuration. The contract also includes the delivery of ground equipment, simulators, and a ground training system.

The L-39 Skyfox is a modern multi-purpose aircraft capable of performing a variety of functions, from pilot training to tactical and reconnaissance missions. The Skyfox is the most efficient aircraft in its class, available in both Western and Eastern configurations and certified according to EU and NATO regulations. This versatile technology platform combines modern simulation technologies and ground training systems. The Czech L-39 Skyfox training aircraft offers an innovative combination of modern avionics, a powerful jet engine, and excellent flight characteristics, making it a suitable choice for all phases of training pilots of 4th and 5th generation aircraft, reconnaissance, and tactical missions focused, for example, on cooperation with various ground forces of the army.

AERO Vodochody AEROSPACE a.s. focuses on the development, production, maintenance, and modernization of civil and military aircraft. It is the largest aircraft manufacturer in the Czech Republic and one of the oldest aircraft manufacturers in the world. In the field of its own aircraft, Aero is a permanent partner of a number of military air forces and has a strong position in the market for military training and light combat aircraft. Thanks to the 11,000 aircraft it has manufactured over the course of its 100-year existence, hundreds of L-39 Albatros aircraft still in use by dozens of military operators and a number of demo teams, and especially thanks to its new L-39 Skyfox aircraft, Aero is establishing itself as a leader in the global market for jet training aircraft. In the field of civil aviation, Aero cooperates with major aircraft manufacturers on a wide range of projects and is a partner in several risk-sharing programs, where it is responsible not only for the production and assembly of aircraft components, but also for their development.

As part of fulfilling a state defense order, Rostec's United Aircraft Corporation manufactured and delivered a new batch of Su-30SM2 multi-role fighters to the Russian Ministry of Defense.

The Su-30SM2 is considered one of the best aircraft and is highly regarded by pilots. It is distinguished by its high maneuverability, excellent flight characteristics, and a wide range of weapons, including long-range capabilities. The aircraft is capable of using virtually all types of modern aviation weapons. Thanks to its powerful radar, the Su-30SM2 can “see” further and more accurately, which makes the crew's work easier. Chief of Defence Force, Air Marshal Tony Davies, recently signed the arrangement to purchase two new Airbus A321XLR aircraft from US-based Air Lease Corporation.

The aircraft will replace the two Boeing 757s which are used primarily to transport military personnel and equipment quickly over long distances, including for various deployments, disaster relief operations throughout New Zealand and the Pacific, and as well as diplomatic and trade missions.

The new aircraft can travel further, are more fuel efficient and will be able to accommodate around 120 passengers and 9,100 kilograms of cargo.

The livery for the new aircraft has been designed to match the RNZAF’s current livery. A range of options were considered before settling on the grey with a prominent kiwi roundel, sending a clear signal that they are military aircraft and are also instantly recognisable as being from New Zealand, no matter the environment.
