BETHESDA, Md., Sept. 23, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- The Fuerza Aérea Mexicana (FAM) recently announced the acquisition of a second Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) C‑130J‑30 Super Hercules tactical airlifter, solidifying Mexico's role as a regional leader in air mobility. The addition of the second Super Hercules follows the first aircraft acquisition announced in January 2026, which made Mexico the first nation in Latin America to join the global Super Hercules fleet.
A long‑time Hercules operator, the FAM is recapitalizing its legacy fleet with the C‑130J‑30 Super Hercules–a stretch variant that adds 15 feet of cargo space. The aircraft provides increased power, range, fuel efficiency and payload capacity, enabling the FAM to meet any tactical airlift requirement while leveraging decades of operational, maintenance and logistics experience with the Hercules.
The Super Hercules provides the FAM with what no other tactical airlifter can deliver: certified multi‑mission versatility, proven operational performance, a true global presence, known capabilities and trusted reliability – all backed by an enterprise‑wide support network that ensures sustained readiness for decades to come.
The expanded capability arrives at a critical moment. Shortly after the twin earthquakes that struck Venezuela, the first C‑130J‑30 was employed to deliver emergency supplies, medical aid and personnel to the disaster area. The second aircraft will double that response capability, allowing Mexico to sustain rapid humanitarian assistance throughout Latin America and reinforce its strategic air‑lift role in support of regional security.
"The C‑130J is the backbone of global airlift, and Mexico's continued investment underscores confidence in a platform that delivers decades of operational readiness, unmatched versatility and seamless interoperability with U.S. and allied forces," said Trish Pagan, vice president of Lockheed Martin's Air Mobility & Maritime Missions. "We are proud to support Mexico as it sets a new benchmark for tactical airlift in Latin America."
For more than five decades the C‑130 Hercules has been a cornerstone of Mexico's response to natural disasters, military operations and other critical missions. The aircraft remains a powerful symbol of Mexico's commitment to regional security and cooperation, and the expanded fleet highlights the long‑standing partnership between Lockheed Martin and the FAM.
Mexico's expansion of the C‑130J fleet demonstrates a clear momentum for modern air mobility in Latin America. By investing in the most advanced Hercules ever built, the country not only enhances its own operational reach but also creates a platform for greater cooperation with U.S. and allied forces, ensuring a coordinated response to security and humanitarian challenges for years to come.

NEW YORK, Sept. 23, 2026 /PRNewswire(opens in a new tab)/ -- Boeing [NYSE: BA] and Turkish Airlines today announced an order for up to 150 737 MAX airplanes, concluding the discussions initiated in 2025 and supporting the flag carrier's expansion goals.
The agreement for the 737 MAX order was finalized in the presence of His Excellency Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, president of the Republic of Türkiye.
Turkish Airlines purchased 100 737-8 airplanes and secured options for 50 more 737 MAX jets, making this the airline's largest Boeing single-aisle order. The agreement includes substitution rights for the 737-10, the largest 737 MAX variant, so Turkish Airlines can comfortably serve more passengers on more routes to meet growing demand.
"This agreement marks another significant step in the continued expansion of our fleet. The new Boeing 737 MAX aircraft will bring greater efficiency and flexibility to our operations, supporting the extensive network we serve from our hub in Istanbul," said Prof Murat Şeker, Turkish Airlines chairman of the board and the executive committee. "We are pleased to build on our longstanding cooperation with Boeing through an agreement that also supports Türkiye's aviation ecosystem."
Turkish Airlines (including AJet) operates a fleet of more than 200 Boeing airplanes, including the 737 MAX, 787 Dreamliner, 777, 737 Next-Generation and 777 Freighter. By adding more 737-8 jets to its fleet, the airline will leverage the airplane's range, payload flexibility and fuel efficiency to serve high-demand domestic and international routes.
"This order reflects the trust and shared vision that have defined our long-standing partnership with Turkish Airlines," said Stephanie Pope, president and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes. "We're proud to continue our support of Türkiye's aviation ecosystem and Turkish Airlines as it grows its Istanbul-based network, connecting more people and destinations worldwide."
The 737 MAX family reduces fuel use and emissions by 20% compared to the airplanes they replace, enabling lower operating costs and supporting the airline's growth strategy to meet rising travel demand.
Turkish Airlines' 737 MAX purchase builds on its 2025 order for up to 75 787 Dreamliners as part of the global carrier's investment in fleet and network expansion. The agreement is also accompanied by industrial participation, under which Boeing continues its commitment and support of the Turkish aviation ecosystem.
LOS ANGELES AND DALLAS, September 23, 2026 – Heart Aerospace today unveiled the ES-36, a 36-seat hybrid-electric regional airliner and the company’s production aircraft. Alongside the unveiling, award-winning air carrier JSX announced a deposit-backed purchase agreement for 50 ES-36 aircraft, with purchase rights for 50 more. The agreement deepens the companies’ existing partnership and advances JSX’s plans for a next-generation regional fleet designed to expand time-saving nonstop connectivity from convenient community airports.
The ES-36 evolves the previously announced Heart ES-30 with a simplified two-nacelle airframe and series-hybrid electric propulsion architecture designed to further improve the Heart production aircraft’s operating cost advantage over legacy regional aircraft.
Compared with the ES-30, the ES-36 adds six passenger seats and 1,415 pounds of payload capacity, increasing both by 20 percent while retaining the same maximum takeoff weight and battery capacity as the prior design. Its aerodynamically optimized airframe allows more capacity to be dedicated to passengers and payload, increasing the aircraft’s revenue potential, while the shift from four nacelles and propellers to two reduces the number of propulsion components to maintain, lowering maintenance costs.
Superseding the ES-30’s four-engine independent-hybrid configuration, the ES-36 adopts twin series-hybrid powertrains, with each utilizing a 1.65-megawatt electric motor to drive a propeller. Ground-charged onboard batteries provide an all-electric range of 125 miles (200 kilometers), plus reserves, allowing operators to serve short-haul routes with no fuel burn.
For longer missions, the ES-36 has a hybrid range of 745 miles (1,200 kilometers), plus reserves, enabled by a megawatt-class turbogenerator in each of its two powertrains. Each turbogenerator is powered by its own compact, commercially available gas turbine, which generates electricity in flight to supplement the batteries and power the electric propulsion motors. This range-extending capability is designed to give operators the full range and flexibility of a regional aircraft with the disruptive cost benefits of electrification.
“The ES-36 design is a direct result of what Heart learned designing, building, testing and flying our X1 demonstrator aircraft,” said Ben Stabler, Chief Technology Officer at Heart. “Those learnings have helped us make the production aircraft more capable in the air and more productive for operators. The ES-36 carries more passengers and payload, creating greater revenue-generating potential for operators like JSX, while targeting operating costs at least 40 percent lower than legacy regional aircraft.”
JSX’s agreement converts its 2023 letter of intent with Heart into a deposit-backed purchase commitment and secures early delivery positions for the air carrier, advancing its partnership with Heart Aerospace from aircraft development toward fleet introduction.
The ES-36 is well suited to helping JSX grow service at the convenient community airports it already serves, including Santa Monica, Westchester County, Naples and Napa Valley. Its short-field performance supports operations at constrained airfields, while its compact footprint helps JSX make more efficient use of limited ramp, gate and hangar space. With a 95-foot wingspan, approximately 11 feet shorter than the ES-30’s, the ES-36 is designed to support higher-frequency service and greater aircraft utilization at busy regional airfields.
The ES-36 also broadens the range of community airports that JSX can serve. Its all-electric operations, with zero emissions and materially lower noise, help address community concerns that may constrain service, while substantially lower operating costs make more nonstop routes viable for JSX and support attractive fares for travelers. Together, these advantages enable more destinations, greater frequency and more convenient travel options, while helping JSX remain a good neighbor to the communities it serves.
“JSX is proud to back the development of the next-generation aircraft that will deliver the best travel experience for our Customers, expand the destinations available to them, and strengthen our business,” said Alex Wilcox, JSX CEO. “The hybrid-electric ES-36 will enable more nonstop routes from more convenient airports while further elevating the award-winning, no-middle-seat onboard experience that JSX Customers love. We’re excited to work with Heart to tailor the ES-36 to JSX’s operations.”
The agreement also establishes a working partnership between the companies to optimize the ES-36 for JSX’s operating model, across two priorities: enhancing the onboard experience and saving passengers time. Heart and JSX will collaborate on cabin configuration, pairing the aircraft’s ultra-quiet all-electric operations with the spacious, comfortable and connected environment JSX Customers expect. The companies will also work together on charging and turnaround procedures, route planning, and airport readiness to deliver JSX’s signature speed and ease, from curb to cabin and onward.
“With the ES-36, Heart is bringing to market a more capable aircraft with an even stronger value proposition for air carriers, and JSX’s partnership underscores that opportunity,” said Anders Forslund, Founder and CEO of Heart Aerospace. “We’re grateful to Alex for believing in Heart early and championing electric aviation as he builds JSX’s fleet of the future. We look forward to working side by side with the JSX team to bring the ES-36 into service in order to deliver exceptional economics for JSX and an unparalleled travel experience for its Customers.”
The unveiling of the ES-36 continues Heart’s 2026 momentum, following the mid-August first flight of the company’s X1 demonstrator, the largest battery-electric aircraft ever flown and the world’s first electric airliner prototype to take flight. Heart is now building its first pre-production ES-36 aircraft at the company’s pilot manufacturing plant in Los Angeles, targeting first flight in the second half of 2028 and entry into service in 2031, following FAA Part 25 certification.

PC-12 PRO: Safety Autoland is Certified
Progressive, Proven, Professional: A completely new cockpit based on the Garmin G3000 PRIME Integrated Flight Deck, featuring capabilities such as Safety Autoland, make the brand-new PC-12 PRO the most technologically advanced, best performing, most reliable aircraft in its class. The Safety Autoland system has been certified by both the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
The PC-12 already ranks among the safest aircraft in class, with an exceptional, statistically proven safety record. With the PC-12 PRO, Pilatus takes this excellent safety standard to an even higher level: the latest generation of this bestseller is equipped with a host of additional safety features – including the innovative Safety Autoland system. During final certification flights, Safety Autoland took center stage as it underwent extensive testing. The goal was to demonstrate a fully automated landing in real-world conditions – from system activation all the way to a safe landing and automated communication and engine shutdown.
A smart system for emergencies
Safety Autoland is designed to handle situations involving sudden pilot incapacitation – due to a medical emergency, for example. When the activation button is pressed or when a pilot inactivity is detected, the system takes full control of the aircraft, informing all occupants that the automated landing mode has been activated. Simultaneously, it begins analyzing all available information, including weather, aircraft status and navigation data.
Based on this information, the system determines the best choice of airport, taking into account factors such as runway length, wind, weather conditions and remaining fuel. It then calculates a safe route, avoiding obstacles and terrain. During autonomous flight, Safety Autoland takes care of all the systems required for landing – including flaps, landing gear, lighting and de-icing – and fully prepares the aircraft for the final approach. It also handles all radio communications, automatically making calls on the appropriate frequencies to keep ATC and persons on the ground informed about the situation.
