Boeing B-29 45-21793 "Superfortress" participated in the National Geographic - AAF Eclipse Expedition in Brazil during the month of May 1946.
The AAF (Army Air Forces) Eclipse Expedition in Brazil during May 1946 was a scientific endeavor to observe a total solar eclipse. Specifically, the expedition focused on observing the eclipse from Araxa, Brazil, where an abandoned airport was used as the observing site. The expedition was part of a larger effort to study the eclipse, with other teams observing from different locations, including West Africa. -

Below Lockheed RP-322 Lightning Mk I AF132,one of the 243 Lightning Mk I's ordered and then rejected by the RAF.
They were taken over by the USAAF and used as trainers.
