The Desert Air Force (DAF), comprised squadrons from the British Royal Air Force (RAF), the South African Air Force (SAAF), the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) and the United States Army Air Forces (USAAF). Formed in North Africa in 1941, to provide close air support to the Eighth Army, the DAF was also known as Air HQ Western Desert, the Western Desert Air Force and the First Tactical Air Force (1TAF).

SPECIAL EDITION
Not so long ago the original Monty27 DAF campaign introduced a whole new level of modding to DBW Scripted Campaigns that ultimately resulted in 'The Full Monty'. Now, after months of work, this upgrade is boosted to the latest 'Full Monty' Standard.

4-CY6 Ambient Airfield Sounds added

7-Wngflyr's new Bedford Trucks now equip the Commonwealth units
8-Many new armoured units and objects have been added
9-Bf109's are now all proper G2s, with many more skinned by Boelcke
10-No.112 Squadron and Lafyette P-40's now skinned by Boelcke
11-More SAAF Hurricanes and Ju52's skinned by Cheruskerarmin
12-Several new Spitfire skins by Kristorf
13-All 55 mission tracks re-done! The most mission tracks ever done for any campaign
14-Parking assigments added to all missions
15-All ground targets rebuilt with new vehicles and 'Running Men' now included
16-All missions re-tested for stabiliy and fps performance
17-All DAF fighter flights are 'Vics' of 3 aircraft, while the Luftwaffe use the 'Finger Four' formation. This means that you are usually outnumbered in any air encounter, which in turn means that it is up to the player to influence the outcome of the air battles



REQUIREMENTS
This campaign was designed to be played under Dark Blue World with The Full Monty applied, which is why it is subtitled 'Special Edition'. Please download and install the Monty Packs with JSGME. Like the other Special Editions, this Campaign is packed with so many items that the pilot workload is quite high and a reasonably high-end PC will be needed to run it. If you don't run at least a quad-core with a good graphics card, you may struggle with this one. I apologise for that, having run IL2 on a more basic machine for many years. However, once I saw the glory of this sim maxxed and montied, I knew there was no going back...

NOTAMS
Please DO NOT attempt to fly previous outdated Monty27 campaigns with the new Monty Packs. The new Monty Packs will work properly ONLY with the A&A Special Edition campaigns. Likewise it is not advisable to fly the Special Edition campaigns using previous setups and other modpacks. The A&A Special Editions are not simply re-skinned missions. Each campaign is actually a complete re-write based on the new object and function upgrades.
