F-7A/B-24J Skinpack

F-7A Photo Recon planes were made by a relatively simple conversion from standard B-24Js. The F-7A had a triple camera arrangement of one vertical and two oblique cameras (also called "trimetrogon") installed in the navigator's compartment in the nose. The rear bomb bay doors were fixed shut and a floor placed in the bay. At the forward end of the rear bay, there was also a vertical camera installed on the starboard side and a split vertical camera station on the port. There was also additional equipment such as intervalometers and other controls installed. The forward bomb bay usually had auxiliary fuel tanks installed.

This skinpack has planes from several different squadrons; all from the Pacific and CBI theaters. Generics are also included.

In the later F-7B (converted from B-24J, L and M models), the triple camera in the nose was moved to the aft end of the rear bomb bay. This was done due to problems with the cameras being bumped by crewmembers and also to allow easier access to the film cannisters.
